Forgot to charge me
« on: December 20, 2007, 03:12:23 PM »

 Oh dear,

Went Christmas "hunting" last night, Bought quite a few items, including a Nintendo DS Lite and games.

As we are being rung out (by a very exhausted, but polite, young man) he paused, said he thinks he missed something "after the DS" so we hand back the bag, he is looking at his screen and trying to figure it out, then he says "ok, I got it, it's ok, we're cool" and we go our merry way

I got home and realized he hadn't charged the DS ($130!) Blech, I am not looking forward to waiting at customer service to fix this.

On the bright side, is it just me or is everyone running into GREAT service by retail staff this year?

It's just you.  I'm lucky to get a "hello".

I hope you have a relatively painless experience with Customer Service!

On the bright side, is it just me or is everyone running into GREAT service by retail staff this year?

Now that you mention it, the clerk at Macy's carefully wrapped the glass ornaments I bought rather than just throwing them in a plastic bag.  I think that was my Christmas miracle for the year!

I actually went into Michael's on my lunch hour; it wasn't too crowded, I found an employee restocking a shelf, and she was able to tell me *exactly*, and pleasantly, where in the store a non-Christmas item was located (little fake bird, if you want to know!)

Macy's did the same thing to me, and I only had one item!  We got to talking, she wrapped up the cashmere sweater, and then that was it!  I had walked away and was almost to the door when it hit me that she never gave me a receipt.  From that I infered she had never rung it up, so I went back to let her know.  She then actually rang it up and gave it back to me.  Relatively painless, but I shop at weird hours to avoid crowds.

i finally lost my cool the other day at a store. i had been standing at a customer service desk for 10 minutes, needing some help, while the woman behind the desk was on a personal phone call that was decidedly of the non-emergency persuasion. basiclaly she was gossiping with someone on the other end. she saw me, looked right AT me, then THROUGH me.i waited for 10 minutes (no one else was available) and when she finally wrapped up her scintillating conversation she said "can i help you." and i said "you should have helped me 10 minutes ago when is tarted standing her Amy *eyeing her nametag*, but now I think I'll go find your manager and tell them how very UNhelpful you have been." she started gaping at me, honestly she seemed actually confused as to why i was so mad.

i went and found the manager, told them exactly what Amy did and the nature of her phone call, then dumped the items iw as carrying (about $200) down and said "i will be going to your competitor to buy these now." and flounced out. i def. came off as a upset, possibly rude customer but i was really steamed and it took all i had not to raise my voice or say something very unpleasant.
