This is going to come off sounding entitled/bratty, but I don't honestly mean it to do so...I think I'm just a little hurt.
Secret Santa exchange was today. Prior to drawing names, participants had to fill out a very extensive 'likes and dislikes' sheet. The gift limit was $30, but most people go above that limit. All the gifts were put in the law library and an 'elf' would deliver them to the person you drew sometime during the day. I got back from a meeting and noticed a gift on my desk. I opened it....it was a jar of Planters salted peanuts. I don't know who my Santa is. No note was left.
I know its better to give than to receive, and I do like to give...I had a great time finding something for the person who I drew, but am I wrong to feel a bit miffed? Oh, and also, nuts were on my 'dislike' list.
I guess my question is, should I ask the 'elf' who my Santa was? I will be of course thanking whoever it is...and secretly hoping they say, 'did you see the McDonalds gift certificate in there?'
