Etiquette School is in session! > "Why would I want to do that?"

Good for everything!

(1/1)

M-theory:
Without going into any overcomplicated explanations, I am a volunteer staff member for an online game with a few hundred players. Because of the mix of ages, nationalities and personalities, fairly strict rules have to be enforced - most of this involves people who do things that when translated into the real world would constitute stealing, cheating, etc. I enforce the rules strictly but fairly, and as a result a lot of people send private messages asking me to reverse their punishments. The rules are not ambiguous in any way, and are posted in several languages and all over the place - they know what they did wrong. Hence, my response is always "Why would I want to do that?" So far, the only real comeback anyone's come up with is "I WAS JUST ASKING!".

I truly love this phrase.
