Blah, it's hot
« on: January 31, 2007, 03:22:50 AM »
Today at 3pm the temperature was 43.5C.  That's 110F.  It's now 5.30pm and it has plummeted to only 40C.  The airconditioner in my classroom does not work.  Blah.

I take it you're not in Brisbane then if you have an airconditioned classroom, albeit one that doesn't work?

Blah it's hot?

It's 33 degrees F where i am ... and only a slight dusting of snow.

Sounds to me like it's time to start wintering in Australia...

I LOVE 110 degree F weather! esp if it's sunny too!

I feel compelled to point out that 110 in a classroom full of kids is not nearly the same experience as 110 on the beach or just outside in general. As the weather gets more extreme, the kids get more squirrely. WE always have more fights when it gets hot.

I know, but it is so cold & windy here that after my brain latches onto the thought of 110 degrees all rational thought goes bye-bye.
I'm sure it's no fun ... but it sure sounds nice ...

Ironically, it is in the single digets outside but my classroom temp is currently running at 80. We have no windows so the air is very dry and there is not breeze circulation. My kids are getting nosebleeds from the dryness and the static elecrticity is so bad I get zapped everytime I open my dooe or make contact with another human. I got so sick of it, I went out and bought 2 humidifiers for my classroom this morning. Oddly, the warmth seems to make some kids contentious and the rest of them sleepy.

Please, please give me some of that warmth!  It was -5F when I came to work this a.m. and  I can only drive the forklift for 40 minutes before I have to come in to warm-up!  I do feel your pain with the kids tho....

How about we organise a temporary house swap, effective immediately.  I HATE the heat and would rather have the cold anyday. ;D

Anyone want our snow? Outside Denver, here, and I think DH and I will "Elvis" the TV if one more meteorologist says the "S-word" in the near future. We broke a record for cold at the local airport last night, at -18F before windchill.

Glad we decided to get immersion heaters for the birdbaths this year. The critters are loving it.

Not me! I hate three-digit heat. I don't like 90s either!

If I had a choice between 43F (current temperature here in the Boise, ID area) or 110F, I'd take the 43. It gets insanely hot here in the summer. Every time someone says to me, "But it's a dry heat!" I remind them that so is the inside of an oven.

I want my summer back!

It was (the last I looked) 18F and that was before the sun set.

And they are predicting up to minus 20 wind chill factor for tomorrow.

ha! a house swap sounds heavenly! this morning on my way from the car into my offic it was so cold that by the time I got inside my face HURT!!!! I think it was like 8 degrees before they factored in wind chill.

I called home and told my son to sit in the window and watch for the bus and not to go to the bus stop until he saw it coming!!
