Another painting

(1/1)

Hey all,

I just finished painting this the other day.  I took a photo of flowers in pots on the windowsill of my parents' kitchen, and decided to try my hand at surrealism.  The title of this painting is "Judgement."

I like it!  My project for class is to make a color wheel and also to make an
8 1/2 by 11 xerox of a snapshop and trace around the main objects then color it in with water based paint as though you were making a stained glass window (no details on the objects in the picture) and then to do the same thing with a second copy but using abrasive color, such as pencils, and make it to include highlights and shadows.  It will be fun!

StaciNadia:
That's an awesome painting!  The eyes staring at the girl plant is a nice interpretation of judgment.   ;D

You certainly have mastered perspective.

AND cylindrical objects.

AND sources of light.

Thanks, IndianInlaw. :) It's not really hard, Pablo just tells us to really look hard at the object or photo we're painting from, and try to capture the positive and negative areas of light.  Shading with paint is a little tricky, but it's a pretty simple concept too--you take the base colour of the object and mix in varying amounts of black, depending on how dark you want the shadow to be.....and for lighter areas, you do the same, but add white paint instead of black.  I still haven't gotten the hang of transparent objects yet, or people, or......well, a lot of things......but I still have the rest of the semester to learn.
