I've said it!
« on: February 03, 2007, 01:09:54 AM »
And I'm too young to be saying it... at the age of fifteen, I have now said "I really shouldn't be eating this..." (referring to the ice cream sundaes- we have ice cream fridays at my school).

Despite the fact that it was not about watching any sort of diet, but rather because I had a fever yesterday and Wednesday and sugar isn't really something you want to give an upset stomach... but I still said it! I feel old now. Especially since the person I was with thought I was referring to a diet.

Actually, later, a friend asked me how many bowls of ice cream I'd had, and I had only had part of one. She was like "that's all?" She and some friends had three each. I swear, these people consume more sugar in a day than I do in a week...

Nah, you're not old.  You're just taking responsibility for your health, something a lot of us "old" fogies should have done when we were your age so we wouldn't have to sound like "old" fogies now.

Keep up the good work, Chivewarrior.  Sugar really isn't all that good for you and you know it!

Feel better--

Ok I'm only 23 but I've found myself complaining that the music in my MOM's car was too loud.  And it was MY Green Day CD that she took from me.  But it was too loud for my liking.  Either my mom is going deaf or I am getting old. I think its a little of both.

But as far as sugar goes, I like to put 10 pumps of Melon syrup in my black tea lemonades at Starbucks  ;D

Heheheh, sometimes I think I might be the world's oldest 24-year-old. I hardly ever listen to "modern" music (classic rock and classical are my favorite genres); I like watching old TV shows, the news, and the Discovery Channel; and I don't think I've ever actually been drunk, although I'm not opposed to drinking alcohol or anything. Meanwhile, my mother is the one who watches stuff like American Idol, and has claimed that she likes the Black Eye Peas and Pink.  8)

Chivewarrior, yes, you are just being responsible, and there's nothing wrong with that. Besides, what's the point in eating something good if it makes you feel horrible? That's no fun!  :P

I know where you're coming from CalabashCorolla, in my family I'm the old fogie and my mother is the twenty-something, somehow we got switched. It's sort of funny sometimes but not so much when I'm trying to work and my mother wants me to drop everything to watched tv.

Don't feel too badly.  Are you a "Calvin and Hobbes" fan?  Basically I went from Calvin to Calvin's Dad, all before I hit the age of 20.  I'm now 26.

I dress sensibly.  I eat my veggies, I prefer high fiber cereal.  I go to bed before 9.  My husband and I maintain a budget and in some regards are prone to be frugal.  I would rather go to the library than a movie.  I have been known to be more concerned with if something "builds character" than if it's fun.  I generally prefer music that's older than I am.  In a lot of regards, both my husband and I are too responsible and easily stressed for our own good.  Both of us seem to get along better with people older than us by at least a decade.

It happens to the best of us.  ;)  And FYI:  I don't overdo the sweets because if I do, I get heartburn.  I've had that problem since I was a kid.  There's no shame in knowing your body and what causes grief.  Where's the fun in running amuck then feeling like crap later?  (This is also why I do not get massively drunk.  I don't enjoy being out of control, and I don't like the hangover the next day.  So not worth it.)

Heh, y'all are a bunch of young'ins. LOL

But, I do understand what you mean. I've resigned myself to counting the anniversaries of my twenty-ninth birthday. Actually, it's not the age that bothers me. I like my age. Smarter than when  I was in my twenties, and all that. But, I hate the fact that no one cards me, I get called ma'am, etc.

We won't even go into the fact that I've been going grey since I was eighteen...
