If she just refuses to understand or change, then you can drop the friendship without remorse.

I agree with you, but I think the above quote is exactly the point.  She has refused to understand or change...AND she's being a jerk about it.

Unfortunately that conversion has been had. 

Several times in fact, beginning when I was pregnant and we had another variation of it this Xmas.

We've both invited her to do things as well and have been shot down.  She does not seem keen to do things unless their are her plans on her agenda.

Mr Cellardoor and I have come to the conclusion this is the end of line for this particular friendship.

Oh well. Such is life.

Ah.  Yuck.  In that case, it does sound like this isn't a friendship worth pursuing anymore.

I'm sorry your friend turned out to be so self-centered!
