Help us name our new baby please... POLL TEMPORARILY CLOSED
« on: February 08, 2007, 10:48:48 AM »
As of 2/8/07 The Poll has been temporarily closed.

www.brandtsonline.com

I am very very very sorry for everyone who voted and followed the rules of this poll.  I will be sure to let you know when the poll is back up again and thank you again for your input.

I am saddened to say that the poll in which users could vote for a name for our child had to be shut down today (2/8/07) as a result of a visitor tampering with it and voting dozens of times.  The software does not normally allow this, but somehow, it happened.  I appologize to those of you who voted one time and respected the site enough not to try to tamper with it, because now your votes will not be known.  I will make every effort to upgrade the software and try again in the next few weeks.  If you were the one who voted more than 20 times throughout the day, please let me know how so that I may correct this problem.

OP:  Okay so I posted another thread about how Dh and I really just can't come up with a spectacular second baby girl name.  So we posted a nice little poll on our family website and we'd love to have some more input.  We've decided on a few names that we both like and would be perfectly happy to name our daughter, but we just can't decide on one name in particular.

Please help us name our little girl.  She's due on April 24th, so you hypothetically have until then to cast your vote.  FYI though, I had the other little girl two weeks early, and we have a history of early babies in the family.  Whenever I go into labor, Dh is going to check the poll to find out about the current winner and that's going to be the new baby's name.  I know this may seem very unconventional, but it was the best solution Dh and I could come up with.  So please cast your vote and help us name the new baby.

http://www.brandtsonline.com/

You'll see the poll option on the right hand side of your screen.  It's titled Help Us Name Our Baby.  Feel free to peruse the rest of the website as well.  We'd love to hear some of your comments in the shoutbox or forums section.  Thank you again for voting and hopefully you're vote turns out to be the winner.

Lovely names you've chosen there ;D
Two of them are named after my grandmothers so I had to do an eeny-meeny-miny-mo to choose between them!

I voted for Beatrix Olivia.  Pretty name, and I grew up reading Trixie Belden books :)

Ooooh, those are nice!

I like Emily Ann, myself, although I noticed it isn't the one winning at the moment.
You are only young once. After that you have to think up some other excuse.

I voted for Emily Ann even though I like Grace Elizabeth as well, I seem to remember you saying your husband wasn't crazy about it?

I've never heard of Trixie Belden and thank you for the compliments on the site Hobgoblinish.  My DH did all by his lonesome after buying the name from godaddy.  I was very impressed since he has no formal/educational experience with computers - he's my little self taught Linux user.

I like alot of the names too, so I'd say either vote more than once (which is fine by me) or try to pick a favorite randomly.  And if you have any suggestions or comments feel free to post them in the shoutbox.  Thanks again for all of your input everyone.  This makes having the baby so much more exciting, because now there is no pressure in choosing a name.  It'll have been decided for us and we'll have an interesting story behind this kiddo's name.

DH liked Emily Anne but he wasn't crazy about it.  He's not really crazy about any of the names and neither am I.  We like them all, but we just couldn't find any that we'd LOVE.  I figure as long as we're not naming the kid Moon Unit or Moxie Crimefighter (which is really cute, but I'm just not that gutsy) the kid shouldn't be too scarred by a name.

mrsbrandt They were kind of like Nancy Drew books but lots more fun and slightly more realistic.  They took place mainly in NY/Tarrytown/White Plains area but in later books Trixie and her friends traveled all over the country solving mysteries and helping others.  I believe they started in the 1960's and ended in the 70's or early 80's.  They were great books though with fantastic girl role models.

My best friend and I used to read them together.  They were a lot of fun.  I grew up in the 80's but my grandmother found a whole bunch of them for me at a yardsale, then we started taking the rest of them out of the library.  For a while I tried calling my mother "moms" like Trixie did but she yelled at me and said it was stupid :(

When I saw the new edition at Target I called my best friend right then and there to tell her, we were pretty excited :)  I definitely recommend them for young girls.  They are dated, but very good stories.

me too! me too!! oh, how cool! I LOVED these books - I read them after I read all the nancy drew and hardy boys books. I totally identified with Trixie (and Jim!) LOVED THEM!!

Mrsbrandt - I would definitely recommend investing in some of these books for your little one...

I am going to have to buy some for my niece now that I know they are in Target. I am so excited!
