Honesty vs. Kindness

When I started reading this thread, I didn't realize what AI was refering to. My first thought was "Artificial Intelligence", but the first thread ruled that out.

Then I was thinking "Artificial Insemination", which made sense when I read the first half of this sentence:

For something like the AI aspirant  you can always fall back on something like "I admire your courage. 

Then I read the second half...

I'd never be able to get up in front of judges and perform." 

Judges? Performance anxiety?? For this medical procedure?     

Okay, now I get it! American Idol!

Having been through a few artificial inseminations, I can tell you quite honestly that performance anxiety is a real concern! For both the hubby and the wife.

Please don't think that I was in any way demeaning those who have undergone the AI procedure. That wasn't my intent! 
I certainly believe how you characterize the experience.

I think I was thinking more in terms of the judges. That just didn't seem to fit, KWIM?

No worries! I meant to put a smiley or something on that but didn't see exactly what I wanted.

We've been off the IF (infertility) rollercoaster for nearly six years now and never fail to find the humor (because you HAVE to!). I have stories that would crack anyone up, whether they've been there or not. This is not, however, the right forum for it.
