I'm eating raw veggies for lunch these days because I am sick of looking like Raymond Burr's twin sister. Raw veggies make you toot. It's so lovely to rip one in the library...oops... :-[

I really, really don't want to laugh...but I can't help myself!

I just got over "the cold" that's going around.  Anyway, I'm still coughing a little and it seems after lunch every time I cough, a wee toot pops out.  Except for a week ago.

Of course I had both broccoli and cauliflower for lunch and about an hour later I coughed then had to loudly exclaim, "Darn, I hate it when the foundation shifts like that!!"  Of course someone had to point out we do live in an earthquake zone...

Oy, it was bad...

TMI
I'm on the tail end of one of those nasty colds, and I am still performing vigorous lung exercises at regular times throughout the day.  I desperately *wish* that a little toot was all that was coming out of me!

Thank G** for Poise.

I have been hacking my way through the flu since Christmas and I have had a few little "squirts" myself...it's so nice to be thirty one and still having accidents...ah well, I got a cute kid to offset the stress incontinence..
I have finally found the bar I can't get thrown out of....

I opened my window because I remembered that I wouldn't be able to open the door until pressure equalized.

I watched Mythbusters the other night and while it is true that once the pressure is equalized you can open the door...most people can't hold their breath that long.  They did show that if you open your door right away or before the water reaches the window level you can still open it with effort--once the water is past that point, you have to wait for pressurization.  I thought that was very interesting.   ;)

We have an indoor kitty who loves to run outdoors whenever we open the door. She doesn't go far, but enough that it's hard to retrieve her every time. Whenever I'm bringing in groceries my first task is to go round up the offending kitty and place her in the bedroom until all groceries are secured (she steals groceries, too.) Don't worry, there's always water and food in the bedroom.
There have been several times when I do a big grocery shop, and it takes a while to unload, and I'll often go to the living room to go on the computer or watch TV, and since I'm tired, I'll forget to let the cat out for about an hour. No harm done, she's usually sleeping on my pillow, happy she got the time off from the playful kitten.
I also will sometimes close the door and lock it behind me while my husband is still outside gathering groceries... force of habit!

Well...since I didn't know how deep the water was, I didn't want to sit around trying to hold my breath. I wanted my kids out of there like...yesterday!

So the kids went out my window. Interesting safety issue on minivans. If you're in water and there is no front seat passenger to act quickly to roll down the window, then the only real point of exit is the driver's window. Side windows on minivans are too small.
And, contrary to what the movies show, it's really hard to get out of that window!
I couldn't and I wasn't in fear of my life. We had finished sinking then (water turned out to be about 3" deep) so I pushed to door open. Needed a good heave due to the water, but possible. (And darn cold, being snowmelt!)

I think you did the right thing...sorry if I didn't make that clear.   :-\

I was just saying that most people remember the pressurization deal, but I didn't understand until I watched the show that waiting for the pressure to equalize means holding your breath for a minute (hard to do when you're panicking...or with children).  So I thought I'd point out that you can (and should) open the door (or window) as soon as you can.

Public announcement time over.  LOL

Please don't think I was miffed at your answer.
I'm a big Mythbusters fan myself!

I was surprised when you told me it can take a minute for the vehicle to fill up.
Glad it was they who tested it, I certainly don't want to try that again!  :)

I admit, at the time, I had visions of us trying to swim out, which were not reassuring!
I guess in my shock I should have realized it wasn't all that deep when the bystanders walked through the water to carry the kids to dry land.

As entertainment, I can't recommend sinking your car though!  :D

This is one of the things I like about my new minivan (new to me 2005 Toyota Sienna) the side windows on the sliding doors roll down (they are defiantly big enough for a person to go through). They are electric windows with buttons on the drivers door (as well as on the door itself.) I have to keep the button that prevents passanger control of windows pushed to keep the kids from rolling down these windows, but come summer this is going to be very handy to help cool off the car after it has been sitting in the sun and also you have given me a great safety tip if we ever encounter a water hazard (God forbid.)

I had an oops this morning. My friend shared a Subway with me and I dribbled all over my shirt. And of course it was sub oil and of course my trusty Tide pen won't take out oil. So I have to walk around all day looking impaired until I can get home and break out the Greased Lightning.
