I am so upset that I cannot see straight over this.

Has the writer no wife, sister, mother, or other female relative to run this idiocy by BEFORE handing it to another male sitting at an editor's desk?  (I refuse to believe that a FEMALE editor would have passed it for publication.)

Some years ago, there was a made for TV movie about a male cop working a rape case who found himself, shall we say, in the shoes of the victim.  And it explored the way that women who report rape are regarded in our society.  And the even worse reaction to a man who has been so victimized by another man and the way that the male cops he was trying to work with could not face him.........

I didn't see the entire movie - there are some things that you don't watch with a very young child...........

I ran a Google search - the NICEST thing that I can think of to do to this "writer" (and I use the term loosely) is to stick him in a small room with "The Rape of Richard Beck" and making him WATCH it several times.

Unless he'd rather go room with Big Joe at the penitentiary............

I'm thinking that having this "writer" reenact several plots from Saw and its sequels just might make me feel better. I'm not entirely sure it'll do the trick, though.

sounds like a prime candidate for my ultimate get even plan

Place intended in a nice pair of bike shorts - pour a cup of sand in them - tie him to the bumper of a car and make him jog along behind it for awhile.

Oh and so the resulting "rash" doesn't get infected pour a bottle of alcohol over it.

Yes I can get a little vindictive at times, anyone who thinks this is funny should be forced to go to a rape crises center and get some facts.

The main school newpaper on my campus once wrote a slightly similar article a few years ago for their April Fool's issue. The fallout lasted weeks.

Having had someone break into the house where I was babysitting, with the intent to rape me (the people I was sitting for came home early, thank God - I was only 16!), I was absolutely, totally speechless after reading this article.  I can't imagine how horrible it must be for someone who has been raped and survived it to have read that.

Now that I've regained my power of speech, however, I am more than willing to put my lash to good use!

I have the sickest sense of humor on this board and I didn't think that the article was funny. This was in the poorest possible taste and I am stunned that the newspaper published it.
While Vorfemme's busy needles have been amusing to read about I have a better solution. Make the author go to a rape support group meeting and face the women who have suffered this crime and then tell them how hilarious their experience was and how lucky they were to get to experience intercourse.
I have finally found the bar I can't get thrown out of....

Despite all my violent former posts re: this topic, I cannot say how sad this makes me. Quite depressing, actually, once my rage has boiled down. I second Auntie Venom: he needs to attend rape survivor meetings.

Hubby told me to post, he said it would make me calm down.
I have dealt with this attitude from people first hand. I do not find it humorous in the least. I could not even read the full article, as it hurt too much.
At this poitn I am all on board for him sitting in a survivors group...even mine, as long as he keeps his <expletive deleted> mouth shut, and his ears open. He also has to look every single woman in the eye as she explains how horrid she feels.
Shame in him, shame on the paper.

I will echo the posts calling for him to attend a rape survivors meeting. And I would send the editors and publishers of the paper as well.

As hilarious as it must have seemed to him and his buddies, somebody somewhere must have had enough brains to know this would hurt people terribly - and they published it anyway. Shame on them.

It was not humorous. In fact it was cruel, callous and mean. I am disappointed the paper published it. Someone in charge such as the editor should have pointed that to him that the article was not fit to be published as written.

The writer might now be trying to claim satire, but I read it and it shows his hatred toward women. You can also bet that he has these ideas about all people who are not like him. He sees himself as above others.

I think that the thing I am most offended by is the fact that the editor was willing to publish this article.  There will always be sick individuals who will write trash but I cannot understand why the editor believed that this article was worthy of publication.

I wonder if the editor realizes that his/her decision to publish this article may hurt his or her chances of finding work after graduation.  I know that I certainly would not want to hire anyone with such poor judgement.

In addition to everything else..... Did anyone else notice how poorly written the article was?   I thought perhaps a junior high student had written it.    Looks and sounds like something a 10 to 12 year old boy would find amusing.

I am disgusting.  As a rape surviver, I too want the writer, editor, and all involved in this to be forced to attend a ape survivors meeting.   They simply have no idea how wrong this was.
