I used to get this all the time when I worked retail. The customer would ask for something and not like the answer we (front line co-workers) gave, so they'd ask to speak to the manager, who would tell them the exact same thing we just did, and they'd go, "Oh, Okay." Drove me crazy.
Yes! I worked retail, in the department where they sold batteries, film, camera accessories, etc. One customer asked me something about film (OK this was a few years ago before everything was digital) and I guess he didn't like the answer, or believe that a young female would know anything about film, so he went away, and next thing you know the male manager comes back to ask me the same thing (I told him, and he said, "Oh, I see.") The original customer was in tow looking embarrassed. I guess the customer didn't trust me, so went to ask the manager, who obviously asked me because he knew I was the one who knew about that department.
