What she *would* do if she could!
« on: February 14, 2007, 09:02:10 AM »
Yesterday, I took my little dd to Target to get Valentines for her 1st grade class party.  While we were browsing the aisles, she mentioned that she wished she could get me a present for Valentine's Day.  So I told her she could pick out a little something in the candy aisle, and I wouldn't look, and she could give it to me the next day.  She was so excited!

So a few minutes later, she returns to where I had been waiting for her at the end of the aisle (pretending to not look) carrying this big heart shaped box of candy in one arm, and in the other arm she struggled to carry this huge vase filled with a dozen long stemmed red roses!

I saw her and got all misty eyed, and told her thank you so much for the flowers, but you don't need to buy mommy roses!  I know how much you love me, and all I really want is something small and sweet (still pretending to not see the candy).  We put the flowers back and she slipped the heart shaped box into our shopping basket.

Some days I think she is just the sweetest child ever born!

This weekend I went window shopping with my boys and my mother. At one point in JC Penneys I saw DS1 and my mother whispering behind a rack. Then DS1 disappeared for a little while. Iknew he was up to something but I figured my mom had it under control so I let it go. Now I know...

Last night he announced that he and DS2 have a Valentine's day gift for me and he needed wrapping paper and for me to 'disappear' so he could wrap it. I was SO touched. I always get them cards and a token gift for V-Day, and usually I get a card from them that they made at school then we all go to dinner. He decided all on his own to get me something for V-Day.

Then, this morning he got up and while I was getting dressed he cooked me scrambled eggs!!

Kids can surprise you with their sweetness sometimes. I think my boys are the best valentines a girl could ever ask for :)

That is so sweet! When they do things like that it just makes you want to hug them up and hope that they stay that way.

My hubby had our younger child sit down last night and write his name on all the cards for his class...and he had him do one for me.
He's 7 and Autistic and just learned to write mom so when he came over to me with it and there it said To:Mom From:Alex, I about bawled my eyes out. Big huge step for him and he was so proud.
