Care Packages and our Mail People, Great Story!!!
(1/1)
Xanthia, Maker of fine Tin-foil hats since 2007:
I shipped out 5 packages today, I had gone to the post office yesterday to get the boxes, some tape and customs forms, and when I got there today, the Postal Worker recognised me and had me come over to his station.
Everything was taped up tighter than a drum, and he thanked me for shipping things to our soldiers, when I mentioned I heard that some unscrupulous people were slitting open the bottoms of some packages and taking things out, he smiled and said "Well, this is how I take care of that"
The then proceded to flip the box over, wrote "Please do not steal from our service people" on the "slit" and then stuck the customs forms on the bottom of the boxes. He then stated "It this box had been tampered with, customs will be able to tell.
He offered me more boxes and tape and said "If you keep sending to the same unit, wait a few weeks to send some more, that way they get presents spread out instead of all at once."
Thanks Mr. Postal Worker, YOU ROCK!!!!
Now I am going to write a letter to the PMG and let them know how great my Postal Worker was!
aline:
That's a wonderful idea, thanks for sharing! I'll have to do that on my next set. ;D
Ehelldame:
Hmmm, I didn't know the customs form could be put on the bottom of the box. My PMG put them on the front and side of the box. Putting them on the bottom is a great theft deterent.
DottyG:
Mine were put on the bottom of both of the boxes I mailed on Saturday by the post office worker. They fit perfectly there.
Venus193:
The male postal clerk who's on duty Saturday mornings always puts mine on the bottom of the box, lengthwise, covering the bottom seam. It occurred to me yesterday that this would be an effective way to protect the box.
My printing has improved somewhat since having to do those carbonned forms.
