Nephew is going to court.
« on: February 18, 2007, 09:49:42 AM »
Nephew has a court date coming up, for punching out Niece's boyfriend, The Dirt Bag. (He did so at Niece's request, she even drove him).

Former SIL will be there to support The Dirt Bag, as opposed to her own son.  My mom will go to support Nephew and has called in the big guns, in the form of my sister Lin.  Lin is a Force To Contend With.  She hates Former SIL and does not mince words.

Anyways, the planned adoption of Niece's twins is off.  Despite the fact that The Dirt Bag is hanging with his former girlfriend, and Niece is living with someone else, they apparently are going to live happily ever after, on fast food wages.

My mom is sick of all of them, even Nephew, as he runs up her utility bills.

In the meantime, Nephew says he has enrolled in college and is starting in March.

I don't believe people with no money can enroll in college at the drop of a hat.  One needs to file for financial aid almost a year in advance...and he's talking private college!

He doesn't even have the application fee.

I'll keep you posted.

Is he going to like a community college? The one I went to, Indiana Business College, I didn't have to have any money but my application fee.

Everyone is intitled to FASFA (federal student loans from Sallie Mae). That is how I was able to get through college.

Now, if you are talking a more traditional, 4-year school like Ball State University (private and in Muncie, IN), then yeah, he would need to have all his ducks in a row so to speak.

I really hope everything works out for him.

What school starts in March? Trimesters/quarters are pretty uncommon... I'd be suspicious.

ETA: I said uncommon, not nonexistent. Most of your schools are going to work on a semester basis.

The school I went to had 4 quarters, Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Every quarter had 12 weeks with a week off inbetween quarters. You could start any quarter, at the beginning.

THey did this to appeal to the non-traditional student, mostly older adults looking to further their education.

I know about financial aid, but you have to apply for it before March, just to get tuition for September.

Plus get transcripts sent, etc.
