I KNEW I shouldn't have said that.
« on: December 07, 2006, 09:44:24 PM »
I have one crossing guard kid who is just "all that and more". 8)

You know...Mr Personality. Always smiling and happy.  He must like school, because he's always rushing to get there, but he swears he doesn't like going. Once I asked him what he'd rather be doing and he said he'd rather be home "relaxing".  He must be all of seven years old.

He walks to school with someone I thought was his dad.  This guy is rather on the glum side, but who knows?

Yesterday, I was still out while he was returning from taking the kid to school  I said "Your son is going to grow up to be president or something".  The minute I said that I KNEW I shouldn't have.  Mr. Glum snapped at me "He's NOT my son!"...but added "I know what you mean."

(Note to self..never assume)

Don't be so hard on yourself.  How would you have known?  Most people would have naturally presumed that the guy was his Dad.    I have to wonder why he felt it necessary to snap at you?  Why is it even the idea of it so disturbing to him?  Couldn't he have just laughed about it?  (Can you tell that I just hate mecurial temperaments?)  UGH

What was he snapping for?? Good heavens I would have assumed he was the kid's dad, he's walking him to school every day! I don't think you were wrong at all...he was wrong for getting all wierd. All he had to say was something like "oh you're not wrong about that, but this one's not my son" or "oh, he's not my son, but thank you!"
People who go all funky over little stuff get my goat.
I have finally found the bar I can't get thrown out of....

Maybe the kid was driving him crazy before you saw them and he was not feeling inclined to claim him!
