Idiot Mom and Me? New alliance?
« on: December 08, 2006, 09:42:53 PM »
I spent all day on this forum, griping about the lady who strolls into traffic.

Anyways, this morning I was out at my corner and a lady stopped at the red light.  She asked me if I had seen a dog and I yelled "NO!" (Well traffic was loud and she was clear across the intersection).  I felt bad for not having said "sorry" or adding that I had been there a half hour and didn't see one.

Anyways, most of the kids came and went.  I had about 10 minutes left, when idiot mom came by with her kids.  She hit the corner just as the light turned red, so crossing wasn't a problem.   After she and her gaggle of kids hit the other corner, I looked once more to see if they were progressing to school.

They weren't.  They were huddled looking at something on the sidewalk.  It looked like a brown paper bag.  Or maybe a big cat.  After they left, I took another look.  It was a dog.  Now usually a dog would get up and go away once the party was over, but this one didn't.  I crossed the street to check on it and the poor thing was so cold it was shivering.  It had a tag with it's name and owner's phone number.  I whipped out ye old cell phone and called and left a message.  I tried to pick it up, but it weighed a ton..
I took off my scarf and used it for a leash and since it was time to go, I led him to my house.  Once we got to the end of my street, he seemed to recognize where he was and got excited, but I didn't know where he lived, so I took him home.

I gave him some water and some dry cat food, which he inhaled.  Man, this thing made himself at home.  My son was exploring the possiblity of keeping him (no).

An hour or two later, his owner called and came and got him (much to the immense glee of my cat!)

He was a sweet dog...guess where he lived?  Remember how I posted about the E-Bay seller on the next street?  Man, that is some happening street!

Later, the aforementioned mom came by and she was so concerned about the dog.  I said I had taken him home and found the owner.  I told the kids I wouldn't have seen him had they not stopped to check on him (true, I would have gone home in the opposite direction) and they were heroes who saved the dog.  Laying it on a little thick, but they're kids, ya know...

Maybe I'll get a little respect next time.

Maybe next time you see her tell her how glad you were that her children found it before it was hit by some of those crazy drivers that you've seen speeding up that street, not looking at anything....  ;)

Twik,

That's a fabulous idea- I'm so glad he wasn't hit, because dogs don't bother to stop and look boths ways and cars don't have enough time to stop.

Oh yay!!!!!

I'm so happy the dog was all right.  And maybe there's hope for the kids even though their mom can sometimes be an idiot.
