Ahhh... I always thought LW meant "Leading Woman"... and it still makes sense to me, so I'll probably still think that, LOL

I'm sorry to ask, but I've been scratching my head over this one and couldn't find it after searching around the forum.

Ok, I understand from context that LW usually means the OP (original poster).  But what does it stand for?

Unless it's going to be banned, can we just stop discussing pod and let people use it as they please (or not)?

Thank you Chivewarrior.  I personally love POD, and think it is cool that "our" board has its own term.  Its really not too hard to figure out its meaining if people are on the board for even a short length of time, and don't think that such an innocuous term should be banned.

POD is not native to this board. It means "Post of the Day."

Here pod means like-minded as in peas in a pod.

Yep. And it is native to this board -- a former poster coined it when this forum was on Delphooey.

I thought the term migrated over to the EHell forum from the iow forum.

Weird. Do you have a source for that? It's an unusual etymology.

It originated here - at EHell.  There's no "formal" etimology of it.  It's a term that we coined on this site for "like minded as in peas in a pod/I agree."  It's really that simple!

I think the confusion comes in because people use it in all caps like it's an acronym.  As I understand it (it predates my time on Ehell) it's not.  It's just a shortening of the phrase "peas in a pod."  The acronym for that, I guess, would be PIAP, which is just unsightly.
