I am sure this topic has been done before, but I always enjoy hearing about favorite childhood books.
The ones that addicted you to reading. So, other than the classics, what are some little-known or obscure books that you remember reading and loving as a child?
Here are mine:
Girl with the Silver Eyes, by Willo Davis Roberts. In 5th grade we had to choose an author to write to, and I remember how excited I was when Ms. Roberts wrote back!
Lizzie Lies A Lot
The House with the Clock in its Walls, and the other Lewis Barnevelt books. Go Rose Rita!
And one that I have been searching for for years:
The Secret of Strawbridge Place. I remembered the plot to this book and, mistakenly, that the word "strawberry" appeared somewhere in the title. I have literally searched off and on for probably 10 years for this book. I recently found it in an online search and ONLY because the person writing about it used the word Strawberry in place of Strawbridge, as I had myself! I am waiting for it to arrive now!
So, what about yours??
