I hope that didn't come out right...

I can't blame Jackie for not wanting to be associated with any association you are not apart of. And felt he should have sued over Jews for Jesus using his likeness but his comment outside the courtroom was out of line.
Unless I mistook it he compared Jesus to the KKK. I'm not Christian or Jewish, but I find this highly offensive and it takes a lot to offend me.
HogwartsAlum:
Hmmm...I think he was trying to illustrate his personal opinion that Jesus and Jewish beliefs are incompatible, but you're right....it wasn't a very good example!
sweedetobee:
When I read the article I thought something different than you - my impression was that he was saying that Jews for Jesus, the organization, is completely inconceivable. I mean it does exist, but Jackie thinks that it is an oxymoron - Jews for Jesus believe that Jesus was the messiah which goes directly against a central Jewish believe (that Jesus is not the messiah). So he was saying that blacks wouldn't join the KKK since the KKK is opposed to blacks.
It is a bad comparison but he was not comparing Jesus to the KKK - he was comparing the relationship of Jews/Jesus to blacks/KKK.
Yeah, a really bad comparison but I don't think he meant it the way you took it....
MadMadge43:
I guess my issue is blacks have been oppressed and murdered because of the KKK, whereas Jesus never harmed a Jew. (not saying Christians haven't, but just not Jesus).
And since Jesus's followers were actually Jewish in the beginning and the Jewish church actually recognized this as a legitimate sect of their church. (And by the way, it was this sect that eventually went on to become Christians) I don't think that it as outlandish of an issue as he makes it.
bostonbetty:
I don't think it's that outlandish either. The old testament is Jewish. The jews recognize Jesus as a prophet; not the messiah. Maybe the comparison meant that it's crazy because the kkk killed blacks and the jews killed Jesus?
