Japanese Clear Soup?

Leo and I absolutely adore the clear soup you get at good Japanese restaurants, unfortunately we are broker than a mirror tossed off the empire state building.

So does anyone have a recipe for clear soup? It's the soup with no tofu in it, it has long noodles and seaweed.

No, Miso soup has tofu in it. Clear soup has seaweed and noodles.

Most of the clear broths I've had in Japanese restaurants I think are a seaweed base.  You might try this:

The base in this are dried seaweed and shitake mushrooms.  The water is boiled with them and then they are removed and the other things are added in.
