Last night I was taken out to dinner by some visiting friends. They wanted Italian so we went to Giannfranco's, a small, local, family-run gourmet place that has been popular from day one. I had a wonderful beet salad followed by a to-die-for dish of handmade pasta topped with shrimp, scallops, clams, and mussels in a lemon-leek sauce. Oh my! We shared a very rich chocolate mousse dessert; thank goodness because even split three ways it was incredibly rich. My friend and I loved it all. Too bad her husband insisted on grouching all through the meal, complaining about everything. Didn't spoil it for me, though.
Whatever I make tonight is going to look just a little bit less appealing.
