Technical Genius
« on: March 03, 2007, 09:34:24 PM »
So, I bought a computer (yay!).  Being a frugal soul, when given the choice between a modem (which I have no use for) and a wireless PCI card (which is excessive and useless considering there is no wireless network for my desktop), I chose none.  I thought I would swap out the my old computer's ethernet card.

Once my shiny new computer arrived, I decided that I did not want to put a 6 year old card into my brand new machine.  I went to Best Buy and purchased a card, came home, and installed it. I, proud of my technical acumen, turned around the tower and went to plug in the cord.... only to find a slot marked 'ethernet' already built into the motherboard <headslap>.

So, I really hope I can return the darned thing.  I'm even willing to pay a large restocking fee, because otherwise I am simply out the money

I hope you can return it, too.  Maybe if it is still packaged up and unopened.  This is the very reason that I perfer to touch only my keyboard and the power buttons on the monitor and the cpu.  Anything else has me scratching my head.  My dh and I are enrolled in an electronics class through the ROP (Regional Occupations Program, through the school system) in our area and I'd hoped to become hardware and software knowledgable, but found that I'd rather sit and read a good book while he plays computer nerd (which he loves).
I've never knitted anything I could recognize when it was finished.  Actually, I've never finished anything, much to my family's relief.
