Hairball madness! - advice needed
kingsrings:
One of my cats has always had a hairball problem, and once in while it gets really bad. Now is one of those times! She has very thick, fluffy fur, so it's a given that she will have a lot of problems with hairballs. I am sick to death of cleaning up cat vomit non-stop for the past week. Sometimes it's one a day, sometimes it's one every other day. I am feeding her hairball-specific cat food and giving her that hairball remedy paste, and also brushing her frequently. I'm sure it's working somewhat, but the problem is still there.
Does anyone else with cats have any other remedies to advise me of?

Sherkan vomits at the drop of a hat. Sometimes it is a hairball and sometimes it isn't. Are there always hair balls for your cat? You're doing exactly what we do for Sherkan. Maybe you can talk to the vet in case there is anything else you can do.
Suze:
Shave her?
<BAD SUZE! Shoves her away from the keyboard>
Anyway if you find something that works let me know, will you?
I have one that is doing the same thing - only she is "washing" patches of fur OFF as well.

I talked to the vet once, but she told me that there was really nothing else that could be done about it because it is all as a result of my cat's coat. I have heard of giving them a little fish oil to help, but I don't have any in the house and don't know where to buy any. I do have vegetable oil, though. Would that be a good substitute?

Laxatone. Toto loves it, and he gets it every night. He's also on 3VCaps. It comes in a pump bottle and is specifically for animals. The vet will have it. It's done wonders for his fur. It has Omega 3, Vitamin E and other stuff. I have him on it for his arthritis, but the side effect of the skin and fur is a bonus.
Suze actually was right in the haircut idea. My parents have resorted to doing a "lion cut" on two of their cats to finally get rid of the constant hairballs.
