My addition to the list:

*Please obey the "15 items or less" rule in the express checkout line, and if you have items that are going to take some time to ring up, choose another line!

I became irked last night at the grocery store, when I went to one of the two express line with my two items and found that the woman in front of me had a stack of gift cards (my grocery store sells a variety of them) that she needed to have activated. Activating gift cards can take some time, so I think it was inconsiderate for her to have chosen the express lane, even if she had less than 15 cards (I couldn't tell, but it was a large amount). One card refused to scan, so the cashier had to call the manager over. It was then that I stepped out of that line and went into the other express line.

I've also seen people unload way more than 15 items in the express lines - at grocery stores and at Target and other retail stores. The cashiers just don't seem to enforce the item limit any more.

I miss having express lines that are "cash only." My grocery store used to have them, but now the express lines accept checks, credit cards and debit cards, too, and to me, there is nothing "express" about writing out a check (particularly since many people don't bother to get their checkbooks out and start writing until after their groceries are all bagged and totaled). Credit cards and debit cards are little faster, but not as fast as cash.

Am I the only one who misses "cash only" lines, or am I just too impatient? Or am I odd because I prefer to pay in cash for many things, particularly when I go to the grocery store and only buy a small number of items? I do use my debit card once a week or so on my "big" grocery store day, but I never go into the express line for that.

What in the world is not exress about using a debit card? In my hands, the debit card is SO much faster than waiting for me to sort and count out my cash :)

heck... I can write a check faster than I count out cash (I usually only use cash if I have VERY close to exact change...). But then again, I write all but the total while they are ringing up my items...

I wish I could say its eight items or less but I cant. My boss  lets everybody come into express. What is the point of express then. It is not fair for others to make them wait and I wish I could tell you where to stuff your cart full of smores if you come into my line with more then eight but I cant. Also express doesnt mean paper and plastic as a bagging option. It takes too long.

Practice common sense when planning your shopping trips.

Can't stand long checkout lines? Stay out of the supermarket between 5:00 and 7:00pm.

Hate looking for a parking space? The mall the weekend before Christmas is not the place for you.

Need sales help? Go early in the day* when the full-time (experienced) staff is there and everybody is fresh.

*Really organized shoppers take a weekday off to do their Christmas shopping and get the stores to themselves. ;)

Please don't park your cart diagonally in the center of an aisle then walk away to peruse the shelves at the other end of said aisle.  I saw this 3 times in the same store the other day. >:( and was glared at rudely when I had the audacity to move the cart so I and the other 3 people behind me could pass. Grrrrrrr

THis also holds true for strollers or scooters. I hate when people block the aisle! That is one of my biggest pet peeves. Usually the customers in my store are fine if I have to move a stroller.

Last week, a lady left her stroller sitting parked behind a display...well right next to it...and I thought she had forgot it. She had some nice Clinique stuff. Someone could have made off with it. I am not paid to watch peoples stuff.

My favorite saying is, 'Fat Chicks got money, too!'

I am a computer geek. I like techie gadgets.  I also have a very good job that pays for said gadgets, so when I'm in a geekie store, don't ignore me!  More than once I've had to take an armload of stuff to customer service (where the women were working) to ask questions about what was on sale.  I've told them that the guys on the floor needed to be trained better than they were.
You'd better believe that if I were blond and weighed 110 lbs, I would have had at least FOUR salesmen at my feet helping me within minutes.  Hmph.

That reminds me: When I'm a 19 year old female and show up in your tattoo shop, don't look at me and roll your eyes. Don't think I'm only ever going to get a teeny tiny rose on my behind because I'm a girlie. You can't tell that I've already got a tattoo, a big one.

Don't look shocked when I ask you a question that shows I know what I'm talking about. And don't *be* shocked when I leave your shop, go to the other one around the corner and proceed to spend some 20.000 DKR over the next 6 years and to another one last month, spending 9.000 on one tattoo.

Oh, and don't expect *me* to look shocked when you have to close the shop.

I tired to do this yesterday. I actually LOVE the Christmas crowds so shopping on the weekends doesn't bother me, there are just not enough weekends for me to do all Ineed to do!

So I took yesterday off. It was DS1's birthday and the plan was to have lunch with him at school and spend the rest of the day shopping. But I started getting sick last Friday and by yesterday I knew I couldn't aste my ONE day off for the rest of the year shopping. I spent the mornign in bed and the afternoon at the doctor's office. Now I have to figure out how I'm gonna finish everything up before Christmas. Still sick, lol.

Please don't stop at the end of the escalator!  It is still moving and the people on it cannot avoid running over you.
