I thought an R rating meant anyone under 18 could be admitted *with an adult.* Meaning that as long as an adult is with you, it doesn't matter how old you are. So how are theater employees supposed to keep children out of R rated movies if their own parents are willing to bring them?

I just happen to think that most of the parents who are doing this are exercising poor judgement.  How can it be OK for a child that age to see sex and violence?

The theatre I went to was really vigilant about checking ID's.  Are parents allowed to take their kids to R shows?  Or do they just have to buy adult tickets for them.

I went to the movies last week and while waiting for family to exit the bathrooms afterwards, I was reading Consolidated Theater's rules and policies.  According to the posted rules, the theater will not permit children under age 13 into any R rated movies after 9 pm (I think) at night, even if the parents want to take them in.  Unfortunately, these are not posted on Consolidated Theater's web site.
