I saw a "Puggle" today!

Clearbrite:
Now,here in Australia,a puggle is generally known as a baby echidna..but that wasnt what i saw(though echidnas are one of my favs)

Im guessing cause its close to Christmas, and people still dont get their pets de-sexed,the pet shop has a high number of various pets in their store.

Puppies,kittens,fish,mice,birds,rabbits etc

But i saw one puppy all by itself, and the sign said 'Puggle'

So i just had to ask on of the assistants as to what a 'puggle'is??

Of course,its a Pug X Jack Russel!!

The most cutiest thing! :)

My dog is also a cross, but not sure what to call her..shes a yellow Labrador X Staffy.

What have you got or come across?

Cupcake Fiend:
I think the absolute strangest dog combo I ever heard of was a Siberian Husky/Shitzu mix.

I don't even wanna think about how that one came to be...

Chartreuse:
Yes, these cross breeds are cute.  They're quite trendy right now.  Good irresponsible parents of the human variety do not create crossbreeds like this for profit.  They breed to continue the integrity of a certain breed of dog.  Most good irresponsible parents of the human variety operate at a loss, instead of a profit.  It's done for the love of the breed, not to make money.  Because there are no standards for these crossbreeds, the only irresponsible parents of the human variety that do this are backyard irresponsible parents of the human variety and puppy mills, and yes... the key here is for profit.  While they'll deny it, most pet stores get their stock of puppies from puppy mills.

Basically, cute as it was, you just saw a very expensive mutt with most likely a very bad genetic background.  If somebody were to go to the humane society, they likely could find a dog that looks similar, for a lot less money and probably with a better genetic background.   :-\

Dragons 8 Cactus:
Great Dane X Beagle.

Cute puppy.

Funniest looking dog ever.

VorFemme:
A "doodle" is a poodle cross bred with something else - I just forget what at the moment.  They are being developed as a new breed for those who are allergic to most dogs.  The idea is that the poodle has hair instead of fur and far fewer people are allergic to poodles than most other dogs.

Poodles were hunting dogs and bred for intelligence and the desire to please humans.  So they have a number of traits that work welll for service dogs.

I have an on-line friend with a son who needs a service dog - but the fur/allergy question is made worse by a tracheotomy (breathing apparatus).  A doodle was the ONLY option............
