HUNGARIAN BRUSSELS SPROUTS
pint of sprouts, cleaned and trimmed
1 medium onion, diced
4-5 strips bacon
1/3 cup very cold water
1 cup sour cream
plain bread crumbs
butter shavings
Cook sprouts in boiling water for 10 minutes or less (depending on size) and drain. Brown bacon and onion in fry pan until bacon is crisp. Drain off half of rendered fat, crumble bacon back into pan, add cold water to cool down pan. Mix in sour cream, then mix in sprouts. Place into baking dish, sprinkle on bread crumbs, and top with butter shavings. Place in pre-heated 350-degree oven for 10-12 minutes and serve.
Best served with pork or beef.
