Funny new phrase for this

My young adult daughter was at our house for dinner.  DH started talking about the historical mutilation of a particular group of people when DD asked him to change the subject.  After asking him unsuccessfully several times to stop talking about this she said, "I see a fork in the road coming and I'm taking it."  DH said, "Which way are you going?" and DD said, "The way that leads to a different topic of conversation."  Then she started a completely different topic.
