I'm just impressed by your command of the English idioms!

I love that phrase!  My immediate supervisor and I need this for working with His Highness, the King of Idiotville (aka our mutual boss).

[Duchess curtsy]  Thank you!

Had I been a little thinner and a lot prettier when I was 20 I could have gone where Meryl Streep went.

Me:  this person has two invoices for exactly the same amount - are they in fact different? or are they duplicate charges for the same service?
Twit:  Obviously they must be different because they have different dates!!!!!! Obviously!  Obviously! (this is her interrupting me while I try to explain that duplications could in fact have different invoice dates).
My verdict? Rude.  YMMV

Ooooohhhh, I stopped doing business with a company when my mailed in order was "never received," so I repeated the order over the phone, and received duplicate shipments the next week.  Every company should have a way to flag duplicate orders, and care enough about their customers to call or email and check.  This company added insult to injury and told me if I wanted to return the extra merchandise there would be a restocking fee, because after all, I ordered it.

I would honestly make yourself an e-mail folder with her name, and every time she asks the same question, forward her e-mail with the note, "Here is the answer you requested; as you can see, our procedure hasn't changed since last time..."

 ;D

I think I might modify that one just a bit: "Here is the answer you requested; obviously, our procedure hasn't changed since last time..."

;)

Prefacing an answer with the word "obviously," is sarcastic.

Being literal can combat sarcasm, but it requires tenacity.  The trick is to ask them to explain their remarks in detail, with a straight-faced demeanor.  I have an employee with a sarcasm problem.  I'm going to get him to give it up if it kills me or him.  Sarcasm is fun taken occasionally in small doses, but as a way of communicating, it's not productive.

She:  "Obviously, the invoices are for different services, because they have different dates."
You:  "In what way is this obvious?  The postings are identical, and a similar duplicate invoice was discovered last month."
She:  "Well, that was different."
You:  "In what way was it different?"

With any luck you offended her again and she'll ignore you for 6 months.  That sounds like relief to me!

My SIL has been ignoring me for 3 years.  It's nice!

The happiest time for me at my last job was when I was being ignored by the most annoying person I worked with.  It was unfortunate for her because she decided to ignore me and no one else did so she ended up having her coffee breaks alone.  (She'd sit at a different table than me and when others came in they sat with me not her.)
