there's a pic of us together in the "we had to cut it short, but..." thread (we were playing with my new laptop)...

there's a few of the suggestive jokes and comments we traded the whole time we were together in the thread about "gutter minds"...

and then, you can always talk to me. :-p We're getting together next week too...soooooo...

These people are talking about you like your chin drags the ground or something!!! For heaven's sakes it's scoliosis, not a third eye!!

But even if her handicap (if scolosis could be called a handicap) was more severe and visible, or more rare, this fact would not justify rude comments.  I'm sorry, no offense to you -- I just had to point that out.

2.  Not only did one of BF's (female) coworkers corner him in the break room to ask if my breasts were real, she asked him if she could feel them!

Uh...yeah.

I was a 34 K--yes, you read that right...a K.

The week before I went in for my reduction (yes!!!!!!) I had a married co-worker come into my office and ask me if I was really getting a reduction.  I was a little put off by his question, but I replied that I was.  He then begged me to let him see my breasts before the operation.   :o

The answer was not only "no!", but "get the h3ll out of my office!".

He left the company shortly after that when he started showing pictures of his wife in the bathtub to the other male workers.

Off topic, but I'll tell you that surgery was the best thing I ever did for myself.

This isn't the most bizarre rude thing to ever happen to me, but it's recent: I was working from home one day last week, and was talking on the phone to a co-worker regarding a major problem with an account at work. The doorbell rings. I get up to answer it, while still talking on the phone. I was 99% sure that it was UPS, because I was expecting a package, and my husband had been pestering me over email all day, asking me if the package had arrived yet (some game that he had ordered that he really wanted to play). So I didn't hang up the phone, because I expected I could just sign for it while still talking to my coworker about this very important problem.

But it's not UPS -- it's some guy, who starts rattling off at me about did I want to donate to some youth program, blah, blah, blah? I say to him, "No, sorry, I'm not interested," and start to shut the door. He starts to get angry, and saying "But don't you care about the children? Can't you spare me just a few minutes?" I say, "I'm on a very important phone call right now," and point to the phone attached to my ear (all while my coworker is laughing in the background), "And I'm just not interested in donating." He yells "That's what THEY said you would say!" and stomps off.

My question...who's THEY? And how'd they know I would say that? Weird.

I prefer to call it a "medical condition" - because that's just what it is. It's pretty severe in my case, and pretty visible, but it's no less rude to call attention to it than it is to call attention to people who are overweight, or remark on my (male, diabetic) friend's choice of a diet instead of a regular soda when he goes out to get something to eat.

I know I have scoliosis, thank you very much, as I've lived with it every day of my 31 years, and pointing out that it makes me "disfigured," "ugly," "abnormal," etc is going to point out to me that you're a rude, shallow, narrow-minded person I don't want to waste my time with anyway.

"...and according to the bible, animals don't have souls. Your cat is dead and gone and you'll never see her again once she's buried."

Truly, there are few people more obnoxious than a religious fanatic.  Please accept the deepest sympathies of a fellow cat-lover, who had her own cat put to sleep in January 2004 and now has another.  (I hope you were able to find another cat to love, too.)

Actually, the next pet to come after Cutie Pie left me was Bernie, my dog, a little over a year later. He sure doesn't replace her, but he more than filled the raw, empty space sitting in my heart.

I still have two other kitties. They're more mom's cats than mine though - Dickens, a stray we took in and Susie, who is one of Cutie Pie's daughters.

I was sitting at one of the computers in the common area of my school's library. The seats are pretty close together as the computers are too so you literally sit next to people. Which I do not have a problem with. The computer towers are on the floor under the computers.
A girl with waist length braids walked up to the computer next to me, squatted to put a disc in the tower and THREW HER HAIR IN MY LAP. You heard me, she threw her hair in my lap. I scooched over and dropped her hair off me and she glared at me and said "Well I'm SAW-ry, I didn't want my hair to get on the floor!"
Later a friend of mine said I should have shifted in my seat, sat on her hair and cut one...I could never do that, but I laughed anyway. My God, what if I had been nasty or something? And God knows what she had in her hair that she slung all over me...repulsive....

Okay, how bizarre is that??? i have very long (wasit length) hair, and I am always EXTRA careful that it does not get in other people's way/touch them/etc... in fact, probably 85% of the time I have it in a bun or pony tail for just that reason. But if it was hanging down and I didn't want it to touch the floor... I'd take it in one hand and hold it up!! *shakes head in disbelief*

well.. I must admit when I am at t concert or movie, or something and the person next to me wants to take up my seat as well as theirs, I DO let my hair down and get a littl 'careless' with where it flies when I run my fingers through it, trun my head.... it is a great personal space maker :)

You are absolutely correct, and I didn't mean to say that those with even the most severe handicaps should be humiliated. I certainly hope I didn't!!! :-[
I have finally found the bar I can't get thrown out of....

No, not at all; I just wanted to clarify.  Thanks.

POD! btw my hair is down to my knees and it can be painful if it's in a braid or soaking wet! I should know, I've nailed myself with it a million times, ouch! But I am also VERY careful that it doesn't get in anybody's space, so that includes checking behind me or brushing it off my face with my fingers as opposed to just shaking my head and flicking it everywhere.

One of the older choir members(he's in his late 80's!) jokes with me by saying he's gonna bring his inkwell one of these days.

HOW do you do that! It must be genetic, because mine will never grow down past the middle of my back.  I always wanted to have long, long braids like a medieval princess... :'(

A few years ago, I got sick and was very skinny. I also worked as a fitting room attendant (I won't get started on the horrible treatment that came from that!)

I had a girl come up to me once at work. She may have been around 16. She looked at me for a while, then said, "How much do you wiegh?"

I was flustered but didn't really want to tell her so I told I didn't know.

She was quiet for a little while, then she asked me, "Do you ever eat?"

I told of course I eat, I'm alive aren't I?

She just kind of laughed and walked away. It was very odd.

The first post I ever made to the old forum was about a woman at a party held by my future in-laws. These parties they hold can get a bit raucous - I'm still having therapy after that naked Twister incident - and a lot of them tend to dress younger than you might expect for people in their fifties and sixties, so the "young ones" in the group, like myself and DF, don't really look out of place in our usual gear.

I happened to be wearing a midriff-baring top which wasn't especially revealing - my FMIL was showing more than I was - and this woman, who I had barely exchanged three words with, sauntered over to where I was sitting and gave my stomach an almightly slap!  :o

Apparently a little too much vodka had given her the idea that her habit of slapping her husband's beer gut could be transferred to a woman she barely knew. The look I gave her soon cured her of that one, I can tell you. She even, stutteringly, offered to let me slap her stomach, but I'm not in the habit of slapping sixty-year-old women around.

DF still likes to tell people that I reduced this woman to mush with a single look.
