? about an e-mail I received...
« on: December 13, 2006, 12:10:36 PM »
Sorry if this is in the wrong folder....

My sister (who loves to send me urban legends as true fact) sent me an e-mail with pictures of these shoes as the latest thing from Italy and Japan.  To me they look obviously photoshopped (plus who would wear these things!), but I can't find anything on snopes or hoaxbusters to disprove this e-mail.  Perhaps I am just putting the wrong words in?

Any ideas....

They look like a podiatrist's nightmare!  Or a ballerina's dream (they come complete with braces for those unable to maintain en pointe).

Can't imagine they're real, but who knows?  People wear some crazy stuff.  The crapola the fashion designers try to ram down our throats ....  this could be more of the same.  Not *really* meant for mainstream people to wear.  Just something to call attention to their label.

If you look at the red shoes carefully you can see that they are both right feet and the buckle has been photoshopped off the "left" foot.  There were more pictures (some I didn't doubt were real), but these are just too fake.   :o

Has anyone else received this e-mail?

Um, don't ask me how I know but...

These are very real shoes. They are usually worn for fetish or bondage play, and come with warnings not to try and actually walk any distance in them. If you google "fetish shoes boots high heels" you should come up with lots of examples.

About.com's urban legends section has these pictures and more.  They were in a hoax email that was going around.  They are for fetish people.  I can barely walk in 1 1/2" heels, forget even trying these on!  lol

That.is.hysterical.  !!!

My sister would be soooooo mortified if she knew.  LOL

I think I'll just point out the two right feet in the red shoes and let her do her own searching.  Hee Hee!!   ;)

These are a real style of shoes, even if those two images are photoshopped.

They're often used in fetish play, where the fact that you can't really walk in them is the *point*.

(ooh, bad pun)

They look like those foot-binding shoes from back in imperial Japan....
I don't mind kink, to each his own but anyone who wanted me in those would have to find another honey...those don't look fat girl friendly!

Yeah - not something I'd be into, but certainly not unheard of.

Word! I have the most gorgeous strappy platform sandals with 3-inch heels I wore to my brother's  wedding; fortunately I thought to bring along a matching pair of flip-flops, because I could barely make the 50-foot walk from the ceremony site to the reception hall in them after wearing them since shortly before the ceremony, for pictures, and the wine-and-cheese reception. That taught me my lesson: I really AM a jeans and sneakers girl, nothing more, nothing less. Darn. :(

They could be 'real' in the sense that some one actually did make them and got someone to model them.

As for practicality and actually being able to wear them to walk around in...i hardly think it would be possible!

No one is  meant to weight bear on our toes..we'ld be cripled before we knew it! Blisters,broken/deformed bones in the toes and feet..ewww..

I keep looking at the photo and I'm mesmerized! I think they'd be perfect for a ballet themed striptease! Or a ballerina hooker. Maybe that's what I'll be for Halloween next year!!!!

I hope you plan on going around in a wheelchair...you'd be crippled if you walked in those things....
