I once ran afoul of our hospital computer system for googling information about nerve-sparing prostatectomies.  At the time it was a new procedure, and I was trying to find a template for the procedure for the contract transcriptionists.  However, I found myself barred from websites dealing with men's urology because of subjects that are discussed on those websites.  There were also some raised eyebrows over the fact that I had a link to Webtender.com in my shortcuts, but I handled documentation for the drug/alcohol rehab wing, and we mostly tee-totaling transcriptionists didn't know how to spell things like Stolichnaya vodka and what made up a "fuzzy navel."  And I wasn't about to ask the office party guy what a drink called a "screaming 0rgasm" was.

Many years ago (before Google, so internet search but not Google search, and before the IMDB, which would have made a huge difference), a co-worker and I were trying to remember something about (either the year it was made or the cast) about Spike Lee's movie Jungle Love. She decided to do a search for the answer and only included the title (possibly that it was a movie, which didn't help), not the director.

I have never seen anyone close out of a browser that fast.

Did she type in Jungle Love or Jungle Fever? Because Jungle Fever is Spike Lee's movie and Jungle Love is.....something else, I'm guessing >:D

Jungle Love is a song by The Time -- although I'm guessing that's not what came up :D

Itís not a good thing to look up female stuff, either. Even "hysterectomy" and "prolapsed uterus" bring up porn. When I had breast cancer, I had learned go straight to CDC and Mayo Bros and Web MD first.

One time I wanted to do research on Wisconsin tourism and got male porn. I imagine that has been straightened our by now!

Purple Rain - great movie, The Time stole every scene they were in.

In the day's before office firewalls and filters ... One morning in 1998, I heard a song on the radio. I knew the band but not the title. When I arrived at my desk I did a Yahoo search. Yeah, Barenaked Ladies isn't something you search for at work.  ;D

About six months ago, I was researching a problem I was having at work (I work in IT/programming). Not sure what the combination of words I used was but I suddenly found myself confronted by a message telling me that whatever I was searching for was very wrong bad serious and was I sure I wanted to continue...

...turned out I'd managed to hit on a combination of words that suggested I wanted to go around hacking main frames.

Reminds me of a few months ago when it was hard for me to believe I was using terms like Bouncy Castle and Pool Party to write a position paper and not plan a child's bday party.
