As far as lining up to get into a store I prefer that to a mob at the door from a safety point of view. I think it's better/quicker/easier for a line to enter a store then everyone shoving and pushing to get in.

The lemming thing has disturbed me for life. I grew up where that was filmed and was told they used hamsters. So yeah everytime I walked by the river on my way to/from school I thought about dozens of poor hamsters being thrown down and drowning in the river.  :'(

One problem I have seen a lot recently with the one line for multiple cashiers thing is that some rude or ignorant customer will invariably come along and instead of waiting in the one long line with everyone else, will just wait in their own line behind one of the cashier stations.

I actually agree with the rude husband on Black Friday.  There were no signs indicating one line up.  If everyone had lined up at the 3 or 4 doors instead of one, more people would get in teh store at once (which seems to be the main idea of Black friday- get in first).  And there would be less pushing and line cutting etc.  I would assume it was safer and anyone else could have been second in that line up behind him.

If there were tickets given out for specific amounts then, obviously he owuldn't get any because he wasn't in the proper line.
