DS had one yesterday. He manages a day spa that provides a lot of expensive services. Yesterday, a customer came in and had $400 worth of Botox. When she was finished, she threw $100 on the counter and walked out. The person running the front desk was in the middle of checking out another customer and didn't process what had happened until it was too late to chase her. They tried calling her cell phone several times and left several messages. When she hadn't returned any calls after about 2 hours, they called the police and filed a theft of services report. An hour or so later, the customer is on the phone screaming and swearing...how dare they call the cops on her, she had to pick up her f'ing kids, she didn't have time to stand in their f'ing line, she was going to come back in and finish paying, etc. DS asked her what she thought would happen if she pulled a similar stunt in a retail store, and no, they couldn't take her credit card over the phone; given the circumstances, they'd need to see cash within 24 hours or they'd proceed with the theft charges.
