A lot of times with the dog poo problem it's "everybody else does it" (or in this case, doesn't do it - namely cleaning up after the dog). And then when one person gets caught they get indignant. "Well I don't see you ticketing my neighbor who does it too!" they exclaim while someone's writing them a ticket for littering (saw this one happen in person), or "the management doesn't stop those nasty people in the next building from doing it, so they won't stop me." (Also witnessed) ... There is no real way to stop every single one, and as soon as one does it someone else thinks "oh well it's okay" and it snowballs (pun not really intended).
I don't LIKE cleaning up after my pets, be it poop or hairballs or what have you, but I do it. Although... granted, in my own yard/house I do tend to let it "sit" a few minutes so it's not quite as... warm and goopy, because I have a terrible gag reflex. But it does get cleaned up! When I was a teenager and had first gotten my dog, I did the "Well nobody will notice in the snow" and then the terrible discovery come thaw time. Learned my lesson.
SS store: there's a store near me that sells an item that I love. Except they seem to have some issues keeping it in stock. I don't know if it's simply that they don't order enough and people buy it out (it's a popular item) - or if they have it in the back and stockers don't keep up with refilling it on the shelf, or if the warehouse doesn't send them enough in a regular, timely manner... but every now and then they go for weeks without having any on the shelf when I go to do my weekly grocery shopping. The tag is there, etc etc. I've asked about it, and they just shrug at me and say "come back later." (Once, out of curiosity, I checked three times in a week to see if there was a trick to the stocking cycle, and nope - never showed up on the shelf. I actually had a clerk start mocking me out loud for wanting this item. No, it's not necessary to live, but it's tasty and I want to pay you for it, so what's the problem?
