Never made them. Love to try.  Is it that much different than polenta?

Anyone have any favourites? I have some yellow grits, not the quick cooking type, and would love to hear some tried and true recipes.

Not all that much, from what I have read.  Personally, I don't like grits that much, but DH looooves them, especially with cheese.  We usually use Quaker's Instant Grits, which in some circles, would make us traitors to the South, I am sure.... ;D

grits around here are made with meat and not "southern grits"  Boy did Pops get a rude surprise when he ordered them for the first time down south.

Another southern classic - shrimp and grits.  i think paula dean has a good recipe for this.
