Is there a way to hide your email address in your profile?
Someday, somehow, somewhere.....

I just read in another thread that there is no possible way to do this. EHellDame suggested using a more generic email address versus one that might identify you specifically. Hope that helps!

Yes, you can.  I'm still figuring my way around here but this is what you find the control to enable email privacy:

Profile>Modify Profile>Account Related Settings>Email: Hide email address from public?

Check the box and save and your email address is now private from public viewing

Hmmm...don't see that checkbox.  Maybe Flamingvixen is not a supported browser?

The box is little, it's outside of the block and it's the farthest thing on the right.

As for browsers, I know someone has already told me the forum works better in IE than Netscape. Not sure about Flamingvixen.

Not there; sorry.  Thanks for trying to help, though.

Flamingvixen can exhibit some odd behaviors.  Another forum that I frequent has some animation and other visual effects that don't show up at the office, but are there at home.  Failing all else, I'll try Flamingvixen on one of my Linux boxes at home; usually that shows everything.

It could be as simple as slightly different configurations on different computers.

Nope, my error again.  I had not enabled the ability for members to hide their email addresses.  I had to search for it but I did enable this feature.  So, if you still don't see it, clear your internet temporary files and see if that helps.

Hmm, I'm not the one to check either since email addresses cannot be hidden from Admin.  Got an online friend in here who can check to see if it's there or not?   If it is, try deleting your temporary internet files to clear the cache of previously stored settings for the forum.

Ok,  I logged out and then reregistered with a different ID and while it might not have been there before, to the right of the email box is the option to hide email address from the public.

We just need to figure out how to help people hide it who did not have the option when registering.

When I looked at yours it showed "hidden". Hope that's what mine shows to others.
