I finally used this one. Sort of.

I had a friend call me earlier and invite me to go to "Big City" (9 hour drive) with her for the weekend. We would stay with her family for two nights. She needed to pick up some furniture, she had to take her kids, and she didn't want to make the 18 hour drive alone. I almost considered helping her out until she told me that-

1. I would not be able to take my own child because her family didn't want any extra kids
2. She wanted to go out with her family one night and would I mind staying behind and watching her kids.
3. I would have to pay for half of the gas.

Nope. I'm afraid I already have plans that weekend.  ::)

Then, I would bust out laughing and tell her I had to go.

Er, you get to pay half the expenses to drive 9 hours times two in one weekend, so you can be a free baby sitter for her. While, presumably, having to arrange childcare for your own child?

Sorry, I'm scratching my head here. Why aren't you jumping at this offer?

I'm so glad you turned her down, because now I can jump at the chance to go with her! Please?

I'll pay 2/3 the gas, then. And I'll buy the dinner I'm not invited to because I'm watching the kids. And she gets to choose the music for all 18 hours of the trip. And if she doesn't like the color of my lipstick, I'll change it. I'll do anything for this opportunity!
