Currently reading Darkly Dreaming Dexter, since the TV series is so awesome.

OH I bet that is good!!!!  I love love love Michael C. Hall (ever since Six Feet under) and being a Buffy fan, I was glad to see Julie Benz in a drastically different role.  I don't have Showtime, but I have seen the pilot ep on the website.  Please let me know how the book is.....I may have to pick it up after I am done with my new Christmas books.   ;D

I'm up to the 12th chapter and it's excellent.  I'm going to buy the sequel the next time I'm on Amazon.

I'm a huge fan of the show, I didn't know there was a book. Is it a series? Is the show loosely based on it, or is it pretty spot on? Details please!
I have finally found the bar I can't get thrown out of....

It follows the book pretty closely.  The narration is virtually word for word so far.  The author's third book about Dexter will be out this summer, along with season 2 of the series.

Willow1979, Could you please explain the concept of the show to me because I don't get Showtime. And "Dexter" seems a little confusing.

Willow1979, Could you please explain the concept of the show to me because I don't get Showtime. And "Dexter" seems a little confusing.

Basically, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) is a blood spatter analyst for the police by day, and a serial killer by night.  The thing is, his adoptive Dad was a cop and had caught on to what little Dexter was up to, so he taught him to only go after bad guys.  He cleans up the mess the cops or the courts can't handle.  The current storyline involves a serial killer that has struck up a "friendship" with Dex by sending him little messages/souveniers.  Julie Benz (Darla on Buffy) plays Dex's girlfriend, who is a victim of spousal abuse and has kids, and she knows NOTHING about what Dex is up to.

That's it in a nutshell.  You can watch a couple of eps if you go to:

http://www.sho.com/site/dexter/sneakpeek/home.do

if it asks for a password, its SNEAK PEEK

You should check it out if you can handle the gore and such....it's a really great show from what I have seen.   :)

I just finished reading Napalm and Silly Putty by George Carlin.  Before that was Mistral's Kiss by Laurell Hamilton.  I need more books, I've read everything I own at least 6 times in the last year.
