Freezing cooking apples?

I have three Jonathan apples with which I intended to make apple crisp or baked apples over the last couple of weeks, but I never got around to it.  DH and I are leaving to visit his dad tomorrow night (we're flying), and I don't think the apples will survive if I leave them.  Also, if I cook whatever it is, we won't eat it up in time, as we already have enough food in the house.

Can I freeze cooking apples?  Should I core/peel/slice them up first or just put them in whole?

Peel and slice them first and put them in bags. If you were doing a lot I'd say freeze the slices on a platter seperately and then put them in bags, but that's a pie worth so throw 'em all in!

It would be safest to peel, core, slice and freeze in bags.  My MIL packs hers in simple syrup (1/2 sugar, 1/2 water), but I just put ours in bags.  Seems to work either way.
