Ooooooooooh,  really odd way out there names are one of my personal pet peeves.  I just flat out don't understand why parents do that.  My two boys have traditional names commonly associated with my heritage  (Italian).

I was just thinking of this while trying to sleep - my oldest sister's middle name. It's Shoshanna.

Of course, we lovingly combine this with her first name (Rachel) and call her Ratsh*tshoeshine.

It's still a terribly awkward name, though.

In today's birth announcements (Southern Maryland):  Messiah.

So either the parents were reading the news or it is just a strange coincidence.

I just remembered going to a friend's party and meeting a guy named Nimrod ("Nim" to his friends).

I went to school with a Nimrod - no, really :) - He was sweet. I forget where he was from, but it wasn't the US.

At a park a couple of days ago, I heard a mom hollering "Ireland, it's time to go home!". Ireland? Ookay.

Alec Baldwin's daughter is named Ireland.  Celebrities like to name their children after places, don't they?
I seen quite a few place names as personal names. Here's my list so far:
Memphis
London/ Londyn
Boston
Miami
Brisbane
Albany
Nigeria
Jerusala (does that count?)
Dundee
Egypt
Arizona
Paradise

Also, an unrelated name I saw today: Stencil

I thought there was a doctor at the hospital I transcribe for named Latrina, but I looked the name up and it was actually Lanetria.

And no doubt loads more, but those came without me having to think about it much!

I work in a call center and I have spoken to at least one Latrina.  They are out there.

He was an elderly man, so no sibling names to compare it to. You have to wonder, though.

I'm embarassed to admit that my daughter and I have been watching Pretty Wicked Moms.  One of the children is Ledger and one is Amzie.  Although apparently Amzie is a family name.  But Ledger?  Really?
