I spotted someone with an interesting spelling on Not Always Right (the spelling and prounciation are both part of the story).

Joie, pronounced Joey.

I'd either pronounce that "Joy" or "Jo-eye-ee".

I would pronounce it "Joey" because that's how it looked to me...I didn't see "Joy" until you pointed it out.

My coworker's sister is pregnant and coming up with many ...entertaining... names. "Graceful Desire Lastname" is what they are currently trying to talk her into abandoning. But apparently coworker's dad, the soon to be grandpa, is stressed about all this because he had a dream wherein a young girl said "Hi grandpa, it's me, Asparagus!"

Everyone is keeping the dream story away from Pregnant Sister.

I'd either pronounce that "Joy" or "Jo-eye-ee".

I'd assume "Jwah," because it's en franšais!

That's what I would do!

A similar name that I actually love is a name of an Italian friend of mine...Gioia. It's pronounced Joy-a.

Seeing the tripe some people name their poor kids makes me so grateful that my parents named me something, boring and "traditional". A simple palindrome, which made it easy for me at parties when my "forfeit" was something like "spell your name backwards.".   :P The worst I get asked, very occasionally, is, "one or two (middle letter)?"

I used to be a bit annoyed as a kid, that my name didn't lend the option of a cool nickname or anything, but hey.

One of my older relatives has "D. J." as the initials from his first and middle names. (So, Mr D.J. Smith, for example.) We joke about it sometimes, but both his first and middle names are "normal" names that are also not uncommon. It's just fun seeing his mail addressed to Mr D.J. Smith.  ;D

The Fugate four, named

Kenleigh Rosa,
Kristen Sue,
Kayleigh Pearl and
Kelsey Roxanne
after family members, arrived three months earlier than expected, and just a day before their mother's 42nd birthday.  Kimberly Fugate and her husband Craig are also parents to another daughter Katelyn, 10.

not the craziest of names, but poor Craig, trying to keep up with Kimberly, Katelyn, Kenleigh, Kristen, Kayleigh, and Kelsey.   too kute!

They'll probably end up calling them Rosie, Susie, Pearly, Roxy,  and ...
Katelyn (she's already used to her name).   ;D

I'd probably go with One, Two, Three, Four.   :(

You know how on sites they have people who have "liked" the page on the side? You can hover over the pictures and see their names. Saw an odd one.

This one actually sounds pretty, but I wasn't sure how to pronounce it...I had to ask the lady.

Julicia

pronounced JU- LEE- Sha

I guess the parents couldn't decide between Julie and Alicia.

Not some weird names but some baby names none the less, I just stumbled upon this:

 :o ::)
I had to 1) check when Ellen DeGeneres came out and 2) had to explain to my SO who she was.

There's no source with  the image and right now I'm not motivated enough to go see if it's true but this got me wondering about what some names charts must look like and if you can easily pinpoint what happenend in the media to correlate with the numbers of kids named that.
