One of my co-workers said Idris sounds like a girl's name...associating it as strongly with Idris Elba as I do, that seems weird to me. Hopefully it won't make the jump.

His real name is "Idrissa," and he got tired of people saying it's a girl's name, so he dropped the "sa."

It's also the name of my car salesman.
It is our top pic for a boy's name.

Laurie is the only one where I only know of as a man's name through books.  The rest of the names I have known in my lifetime men and women with the names.  I was a kid in the 80s/90s so I knew lots of boy Kellys, Ashleys, Tracys as those were common names then for both boys and girls.

When I named my daughter Laurie I was told it is a male name in Finland.

It's sort of true, Laurie isn't a Finnish name but Lauri is a common male name (and one of my favorites). The first syllable is pronounced differently though.
Ereine, I knew there was someone who was Finnish on the forum, but couldn't recall who it was.  Is that you?  I was hoping they would chime in on this.  Thanks for the information.  My father was Finnish, as well  (so I'm half).
I've never knitted anything I could recognize when it was finished.  Actually, I've never finished anything, much to my family's relief.

Neither of these is strange, but a few weeks ago I heard a mother calling to her sons, Killian and Jameson.  Both are good Irish names, but I couldn't help but think that they're also both liquors.

I actually like both of those.

Danthony and Dantela. Twins.

There was a man on one of the judge shows (can't remember which one) named Caprice.  All I ended up doing was yell "look that up in the dictionary for the love of Nutella!".

Oh! Oh... I just realised how the name was supposed to be pronounced.

In my head, it was Tig-Lord.

To me, Teigh rhymes with Leigh or Lee, so Tee-lor? Or Tay-lor?

She pronounces it Taylor.

I read Teigh as in "neighbor", so Taylor.

That's chenille. Which will probably be the next name to pop up.

Not one but two guests at a party last weekend had cousins named Chardonay, one a boy, one a girl.
