Not one but two guests at a party last weekend had cousins named Chardonay, one a boy, one a girl.

To be followed by their baby brother, Merlot and their sisters Cabernet and Sauvignon.

Yes, all pretty sounding words that would make lovely names if it weren't for the associations. It reminds me of a name I loved, but didn't use because of the association.

I saw a production of The Count of Monte Cristo when I was 13 and fell in love with the name Mercedes. I didn't use it for my daughter because of the car company. Now there is a character on Glee named Mercedes, so maybe I should have used it. Oh well.

The car company was named after a young woman of that name, by the way ;)

My favorite comedienne Miranda Hart talked about a girl she went to school with both on her sitcom and in her book. The girl was apparently named Bruschetta. I don't know if that's genuine or if Miss Hart just came up with that, but if the former's the case... oh boy!

Apparently they get that a lot, to the parents' annoyance. Shocking.

In my head, I picture a Mr and Mrs Rubber naming their new-born daughter Leaky.

So we should have named our son "Doctor's office"?  (we had an IUI)

A friend of a friend just named their baby boy "Izzayah"

An aquaintance calls her daughter "Sasha", which is a lovely name. On her actual birth certificate her full name is "Sweet Angel Sent (from) Heaven Above". Yep.

And the newest, little Ambien.

Ambien's nice.  Although I like Aleve too.   :)

I just read an article yesterday in which the author is talking about her daughter Season.  Which leads me to wondering, were the parents trying to decide between Autumn and Summer?  Or between Rosemary and Ginger?

You must remember this: a ghoti is still a fish...

I ... actually like that one. Perhaps because Blue is my favorite colour.
My cousin's memoir of love and loneliness while raising a child with multiple disabilities will be out on Amazon soon! Know the Night, by Maria Mutch, has been called "full of hope, light, and companionship for surviving the small hours of the night."

No, but Iui,  pronounced Eee-you-eee, is acceptable.

A friend and her siblings all gave exotic-sounding brand names as their middle names (think Ziploc, Windex, Fabreeze). Their first names are all "real" if odd, at least. Their parents thought they would have to be rock stars with names like those. So far, no luck!
