Unusual, but I think I like it.

Is that a boy?  I think I like it too.  I've heard of girls named Ireland, so why not?

This is my little cousin's middle name. Her name is Paislee Scotland Lastname. Her daddy's middle name is Scott, so that's where that comes from.

I thought maybe there was a connection to the town of Paislee in Scotland.

That would more likely be spelled Paisley [unless they were going for a more unique spelling?].

There's no town called "Paislee" in Scotland. There's a town called Paisley (where paisley shawls come from) but that is pronounced differently, with the stress on the first syllable only.

Okay, so I was a bit wrong on my little cousin (she's 4) Paislee's middle name. It sounds like Scotland when they say it, but they spell it Scotlynn. I didn't realize that. I think the pronunciation is just our Okie accent coming out, though.

Maybe it's pronounced   "Ken"   (the 'y' is silent)?

I'm so glad to hear this.  Naming a child after a country seems weird to me.

The latter...just like Nova Scotia. She recognizes her name on the Scotiabank sign. Her little brother canít say it so he calls her Shasha, but of course itís spelled Tiatia. ;)
