It took me a while, too, RegionMom.

Just saw on FB:

Bower and Tanager, who are siblings (brothers?)

In my effort to find out if the later is an ethnic name, the only result had this to say.

More of the baby name sites need to return that  >:D

They're both bird names, so one might guess that the family surname is "Byrd."

Good call. I took another look, and their mother’s name is Wren.

That isn't too terrible then.  I don't mind Tanager too much but I can think of a lot better bird names for boys!  Crow or Raven perhaps but I guess a lot of people don't like the blackbirds (I do).

YMMV, but I've only ever seen Raven used for girls. I think the name's fine, but there is that connotation.

I have seen it used for a boy, more than for a girl.

I've come across a kid named Tiger.  Well, like Tiger Woods, no problem. But then I see that his brother is named Cougar.  Zoologist parents, perhaps? People who liked big cats? At least they didn't give that name to a daughter.

I also came across Rlee.  I kept an open mind and wondered how you pronounced it.
Then I saw the father's name: R. Lee.  I just rolled my eyes.  (and guessed that it's pronounced are-lee)

I ran across a student yesterday whose legal first name is:

Lady Jane

Bilbo: Can you promise that I will come back?

Maybe she'll marry the Sir John I mentioned earlier in the thread.  :)

There's a kid in my daughter's school that has a name that not even Google or Yahoo has a listing for.  I'm not going to list it for reasons of anonymity, but I feel sorry for the kid.  He's doomed to a lifetime of "I'm sorry, your name is what?" and "Could you spell that again for me please?"  His brother has a "normal" name, so we have no idea where this name came from.

This thread make me very glad that my daughter has a nice, normal, non-trendy name.

A legal name of Skeeter?
Kewl!

And, I kinda like Ebony White.

Hey, I know a Bevlyn.  :)
(just not Bevelon)  (I guess if it was a UT graduation, she would get cheers if it was spelled Bevolen--the mascot is named Bevo)

The rest make me think of the future job interviews perusing these names at the top of the resume, and the recruiter's feeling...very...old...

Apparently it's a Hebrew name that means "wave of light"

http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/meaning_of_Orgal.html

Perhaps an immigrant from somewhere that would be a "normal" name?

It may have already been on the topic, but Michael Jackson's son's names - isn't one name "Prince Michael"?

Plus I have seen several times women with the first name of "Lady" and "Majesty"

mostly in the obituaries of the San Antonio Express and Houston Chronicles online
