When did the -aden names become so popular?  I noted recently on my Facebook I have friends with grandchildren named Caden, Kaden, Jaden, and Braeden.

There is a 14-year-old Braden in my family.  At the time, his mother had never heard the name before I used it in one of my books for a very minor character.  Nor had I. I got it from a baby-name book printed sometime in the 1930s.   She thought it would be something distinctive without being weird, bu it was the leading edge of the wave; within 5 years there were little Bradens everywhere.  Caden, Jaeden, et al were the next set.

A woman at the store named.... Jami.

I'm guessing that might just be a different spelling of Jamie.  Maybe?

I went to see Despicable Me 2 the other day. In amongst all the other children was a little boy named Maverick. I know this because his father not only had a voice that carried but was also disabled, so he was using Maverick to shepard the two younger children to the right seats ("Maverick, stop. Go back one row. Yes that row. Now go in, keep going, keep going. Stop. Sit! Maverick, put your snacks down and come back up here") while the father worked his way slowly down the stairs to the seats.

I have to say that Maverick did not in anyway live up to his name, but was a polite, obedient sweet little boy. I didn't hear what his two younger siblings were named, because they were all so well behaved they didn't have to get spoken to by their father at all.

A woman at the store named.... Jami.

It was common here in the late 70's, early 80's.  It's Jamie, just with the E dropped off.

I was wondering why Jami was on this thread because I thought it was a normal name.  Then I figured it sounded normal to me because of actress Jami Gertz, but maybe not everyone is familiar with her.  Funny how quickly you get use to things even if you only know of one person with that name/spelling.

Yup, pretty normal name to me, too.

Wolfway, I have a whole list of names I collected to post here, and one was Maverick. I think it's kind of a cool name, but I wondered if it would encourage behavior problems.  :)

My niece gave her little boy the middle name Cannen.  So far, I have refrained from making jokes about the 1812 Overture playing during labor. >:D

In the category of phonetically easy to say, but ...

"Hidee"

Also, I have coworkers named Jack and Jean.  Totally normal names, except I never want to say "Hi" to them.   :P
