I don't know any Janes I know a lot of Jaynes - most are in their 40s or 50s but it's the 'normal' spelling round here

Alys (one s not two) is also the traditional Welsh spelling of Alice

Cornelius is also quite a popular name in my family tree, it's very old fashioned (to the extent that even old men aren't called it, more their grandparents level) but wouldn't strike me as unique

I'll tell on myself for this one. Fortunately, these were only fictional characters, in a story I wrote many years ago but when I was old enough to know better. I wanted the parents to give their kids "classic" names but "twisted" them a bit with creative spellings. Some aren't too bad. Some just make me shudder.

Alyss Vivian
Caralyn Rose
Nikalass Lennon
Bengimen Dooglas
Allicsandre Jesse
Johnnithan Donat
Cathrynne Lark
Maree Karen
Krystoffer Walton
Jayne Marina

Please, no one take these as inspiration!!

I had a character named Caralyn too. And Jayne is a kind of cunning name. ;)

Jayne I know is a common spelling variant of Jane. I can only suppose I couldn't think of a way to mutilate it more... ::) I think Alyss is kind of nice, although I keep wanting to type Alyssa, and Caralyn doesn't bother me too much. But the boys names just make me shudder. What was I thinking?? The Dooglas is so bad... I keep reading it as "doofus," which may well be what the other kids call him...

I kind of like daen's Indajayne, honestly... Exotic, but made of familiar parts.

I knew a Jayne in high school, but she pronounced the "e," so it was pronounced "Janie."
I recently met another Jayne, but she insisted it was pronounce "Jah-nay."

I can kinda see "Janie," sort of, but "Jah-nay?" No. That's like saying "Laura" should be pronounced "Lisa." It's just not right.

What have you got? Is it food? Is it for me? I want it whatever it is!

I read recently of Evonne and Deon Derrico who gave birth to quintuplets in September 13.

They already have four children.

All the childrens' names begin with the letter D.

7 year old (daughter): Dai (which is Welsh for David so in my head is a boy's name)
3 year old (son): Deon
1 year old twins (sons): Dallas and Denver

Deniko - boy
Dariz - boy
Deonee - girl
Daician - girl
Daiten - girl

Of these five, two are boys and three are girls and I really can't work out who is which!

(ETA I have finally found a website that has details and have added these above)

By comparison my son's name is very tame. Grayson Clark.

I remember while I was pregnant thought that DH and I got in a fight and I told him I wasn't going to let him in the room when I had him, and when they asked me what I wanted the name to be I was going to tell them Seneca Tangerine.

"Airwrecka".

:o

I think it's supposed to be a creative spelling of Erica, but...that's pretty far off the mark.

Darcy....Well, that is easy to see and say, right? Ah, but I was mispronouncing it.  It is pronounced, wait for it, ...Duh Arcy.

I am not joking. Wish I were. And the child was very upset that "No one says it right!"

I wonder if there was some kind of basis in the name D'arcy there? I don't know, I got nothing. ;)
