Do you tip the airbrush tan person?

I got my first airbrush tan today. The lady did a good job and I tipped her, but she looked surprised and almost refused to take it. Do people usually tip the airbrush tan person?

It depends.

I have gone to an airbrush tanner for a few occasions, and I have gone both ways.  When I had airbrush tanning done for my wedding, I did not tip.  The woman I saw owned her own business and she had a service charge for a single person built into her fee (she waived the service fee if there were 3+ clients for a wedding) so I did not feel I needed to tip beyond that.  When I had a tan done at a salon, I did tip the airbrusher.

If the job is a "tippable" job, I would leave a tip.  I've never asked "Are you the owner so I know to tip you or not?"

I don't know. Never been to an airbrush tanner!

I'm thinking that it would fall into the "personal service" category, like a masseuse or manicurist.

I would leave a tip.
